Geelong Grammar School is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools, offering exceptional education to all of its students, from Early Learning to Year 12. We seek applications for the following 5 year fixed term senior teaching role, based at our Corio campus, to commence in January, 2017.
The School has been a world leader in the development and application of Positive Education, based upon the principles of Positive Psychology. Positive Education is an exciting, and unique educational initiative developed by the School in partnership with Pennsylvania University and other external organisations. The programme has been extended and developed over the last nine years to integrate the principles and concepts of Positive Psychology into the educational experiences and curriculum offered to all students, the daily lives of staff and the operations of the School. In this sense the project is ambitious, innovative and requires collaboration with all senior staff responsible for the delivery of Positive Education within each campus.
The Head of Positive Education reports to the Head of a new Faculty (Movement, Wellbeing and Behaviour) and also has a close working relationship with the Director of Learning, the Head of Teaching and the Institute of Positive Education. The role is responsible for the development and implementation of Positive Education within the academic curriculum at all year levels and across all subject areas. It also assists with the integration into the pastoral care and co-curriculum programmes within all campuses of the School in collaboration and consultation with the Vice Principal.
The successful applicant will have the ability to create an exciting and vibrant learning environment and, ideally, possess a sound knowledge of the principles of Positive Psychology and/or Positive Education. A second subject area in addition to Psychology would be an advantage. This role will appeal to an experienced educator who possesses the energy and aspiration to fulfil a senior position that is responsible for collaborating and leading the development of innovative curriculum in Positive Education. Teaching staff at Geelong Grammar must have the ability to fulfil the Proficient Level in all of the National Professional Standards for Teachers.
All teaching staff at Geelong Grammar School have a significant role in enhancing the resiliency and wellbeing of students through the delivery of Positive Education, and are required to take an active involvement in our pastoral care and co-curricular programmes.

Remuneration for will be in accordance with the Geelong Grammar School’s Teaching Salary Scale.
